The GED is a high security test and we must follow all rules and regulations set by the GED Testing Service. The following is a summary of these rules:

  • You are required to provide proof of ID:
    • Current government issued ID, Driver’s License, Passport, or DMV Photo ID
    • Social Security card or Pay stub with name and SSN
  • The cost of testing is $7.50.
  • No bags, pocketbooks, notebooks, nor books of any kind are allowed in the GED testing room. No cell phones or other electronic devices are allowed in the GED testing room. All coats, hats, hooded jackets, and gloves must be removed and placed in the front of the room.
  • No food, drinks, or chewing gum is allowed in the testing room.
  • Only those items provided by the GED examiner are allowed on your desk.
  • The GED test is a timed test. You should answer every question, as only the correct answers are scored.
  • The GED test is a series of 5 tests which are administered over a 3 day period.
  • Testing begins promptly at 10:00am and 4:30pm on testing dates. You should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time. Students who arrive after the start time will not be permitted to take that test.
  • If you arrive late for testing, go to your GED office and rescheduled for the next available test date.
  • Raise your hand when you finish your test. The examiner will come to you to sign you out.
